It's tomorrow, yeah? Faire? Awesome. As per usual. Allow me to elaborate.
First of all, I have the
worst fucking sunburn ever known to man. The skin around my neck and and the top of my back is bright painful red and it hurts to touch. I did, however, manage to escape without sunburning my breasts, this time, so huzzah for me!
Gleeful bits. I did not once have to use the grossness and terror that is a Portapotty at Ojai Faire, as the stone privs were nearby and not, as was previously mentioned, forever and a day away; barely a half mile, at that. I forged my way through several chapters and at least a hundred papers of the enormous book I'm currently reading (
The Memoirs of Cleopatra, by Margaret George), picked up a birthday present for a friend which I must wrap before Friday and even got some writing done OMG. I'm still rather painfully behind, but if I write an extra 500 words a day this week and this upcoming weekend, I should be fine. I called my mum as well, and settled on a Mother's Day present for her (candy and possibly a stuffed bulldog, though if I can find a stuffed Yorkie online I will buy her one of those instead as a sort of Travel Rufus). Which reminds me, HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY. Call your mum if you haven't already, biotch.
Purchases included aforementioned birthday present, a Mother's Day present for Oma, food, shaved ice, more food, and three pins, one cameo of mare and foal, two bone pins which say respectively "My Father is Heavily Armed" and "Shiny!" The second had to be special-ordered, so I'll pick it up at Pirate Faire. The first has to be...ahem...strategically placed, like Teen's wonderful "So Just What Color
Are My Eyes?" I swear, I show up to Faire with fifty bucks and leave with absolutely nothing.
The nobles still love us. We took the queen shopping again, and I got to bell-ring, which is always fun. Patty is so much fun to watch. She improves very well; like when she saw the pirate with a purple feather in his hat, she just stopped, gestured for him to kneel in front of her, plucked out the feather and walked right on. Excellent. Made me giggle for the rest of the day. I also learned a bunch of new songs, in particular "Bedlam Boys," "Gypsy Rover" and "Johnny Be Fine." Now if I can only remember the tune to "Johnny Be Fine" and learn the rest of the lyrics to "Scarborough Faire," I have a decent Faire repitore. Then, I only have to acquire a handicraft to do in camp (knitting, perhaps?) as futzing around with Timothy's harp only goes so far, and cannot be done whilst he is busking with it. Projects for this summer; aforementioned handicraft, monkey vest, and return-to-sender. I should probably also finish the pony poster I was working on, if for no other reason that to have it finished, and clean my closet, but those are unrelated to Faire.
So. I've hit bone-tired now. I have maybe half my homework done for class tomorrow (but Teen and Liz are in the same boat, and Piers hasn't been checking anyway; I hope he does not now). I need to badger Housing into letting me stay an extra two days tomorrow and purchase plane tickets home. Also need to speak to co-teacher for Turbo Novelling and sort out end-of-class schedule, as there are going to be Difficulties. Ah well, sortable.
Then! I shall prepare for the wonderful and lovely Sarah coming to visit! She got into Johnston and with any luck will be attending school here next year! *crosses fingers* That would be so amazing, to have not only someone from DC here but someone I
know and can fly with. Half the reason I freak so badly on tricky flights is because I'm agoraphobic, and having someone I know with me decreases the possibility of panic by orders of magnitude.
Work later. Now is time for sleeping.
